The Wangsel Institute for the Deaf, in collaboration with the Disabled People’s Organization of Bhutan (DPOB), has launched a comprehensive Bhutanese Sign Language Course. The program spans one year and is structured into three progressive levels: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced.
The current batch is undergoing the Basic level training, which comprises two main components:
- Bhutanese Sign Language
- Theory and Practical Training in Interpreting
The primary objective of this initiative is to promote inclusion and accessibility for deaf individuals in all spheres of life. By empowering participants with communication and interpreting skills, the program aims to bridge the communication gap and foster a more inclusive society for the deaf community in Bhutan.
